Hair Care Review

Today I am going to share with you LOTS of reviews on hair care products I have used and ones I am currently using.

First lets paint a picture of my hair for you. It’s SUPER blonde (yay bleach). It it wavy/ slightly curly. I have loads of hair, but the actual hairs are pretty thin. Also, I have zero body in the top of my hair. It’s tragic.

I am SUPER picky about my hair products. I analyze how they feel, how they smell, and the results I see in my hair. These reviews are my own opinion. Everyone’s hair is different, so products that didn’t work for me may be totally perfect for you. However, I hope you enjoy this review! Let me know what products I should try next in the comments below.

Let’s start with shampoo and conditioner.

Matrix Brass Off Shampoo and Conditioner. YOU GUYS. This purple shampoo is EVERYTHING. It smells great, keeps my hair healthy, and perfectly tones my hair. My hair is very light, so I use this product once a week (otherwise it give my hair a purple tint). 100% will repurchase because I might panic if I ever run out.

Redken Color Extend Blondage Shampoo and Conditioner. I received this product free from Influencer for testing purposes. Honestly, I HATED this product. They smell super manly. It did not evenly tone my hair and turned it purple with only one use. Will definitely not be purchasing this product.

Matrix Biolage CleanReset Normalizing Shampoo. This shampoo is amazing if you have hard water. However, this is not an everyday shampoo. I used this shampoo every other week to remove buildup from my hair. LOVE this product and will be repurchasing.

Function of Beauty Shampoo and Conditioner. This product is customized specifically for your hair type and needs. I listed my needs as curl definition, fix split ends, hydrate, shine and strengthen. I listed my hair type as wavy + medium + normal. I also ordered the scent (pear)fection, strong. I really loved the scent of these products. However, I feel pretty neutral about these. I don’t love or hate them. I’m not sure if I will repurchase because they are quite pricey for just an okay product.

Matrix Moisture Me Rich Conditioner. OBSESSED. This product is great for dry hair. I used this about once a week. With my wavy hair it was a little heavy for me. But, I really needed the moisture on my bleached hair. Also, it smells really wonderful. 10/10 would repurchase.

Kenra Frizz Control Shampoo. Disclaimer: I have only used this shampoo once. I HATE IT. Smells nice, but my hair has never been more frizzy. Usually, I give shampoos a long time before I decide I don’t like them. But, I mean. It is a frizz control shampoo. It made my hair frizzy. Will not repurchase and will be returning. THANK YOU, NEXT.

Next lets move to hair treatments.

Ouidad Curl Immersion Triple Treat Deep Conditioner. I feel very “meh” about this product. I bought this at a point where my hair was extremely dry. Even though my hair isn’t super curly, I thought this might work. It didn’t. I don’t hate it, but I won’t be repurchasing.

Redken Extreme Cat . This is an essential product in my beauty bin. This is not a product I use frequently. I use this when I notice breakage or a week or so after I get my hair done. It is very easy to use, doesn’t leave behind any smell, and SAVES my hair.

Redken Extreme Mega Mask. I really loved this product. If your hair is extremely damaged or dry I would recommend this product. I have gone through two of these. Currently, my hair is loving its life, so I haven’t had a need to repurchase yet. Again, this is not an every day product. If you are looking for a once-twice a month treatment, then you will love this product!

Olaplex No.3. This stuff is amazing! It keeps my hair strong and healthy. I will note that I do not use the Redken Cat and this product at the same time. In my opinion, the Olaplex no3 works better than Redken cat. However, both are fabulous and I will be repurchasing.

We’re not done yet! Next is leave in products.

Redken Extreme Anti-Snap. I don’t love this product. It smells funky and I did not notice a difference in my hair after using this product. I haven’t finished the first bottle I bought. Will not be repurchasing.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer. This leave in is AMAZING. It is a heat and UV protectant. It also helped keep my hair moisturized. If you have oily hair or your hair isn’t dry, then you probably will not like this product. I have gone through probably three of these. I will be repurchasing. (side note: it smells really good)

Redken One United. This is another “meh” product. It claims to have 25 benefits. Personally, I didn’t see the benefits after a long time of use. I used 1 1/2 bottles before I gave up on it. I have heard great reviews, but I won’t be repurchasing. Also, it smells like hair spray.

Marrakesh Oil Styling Elixir. I can’t even tell you how many of these bottles I have gone through. My hair LOVES this stuff. It smells heavenly. It helps my frizziness, dryness, and makes my hair shine. I can’t recommend this stuff enough. Will always repurchase.

Kenra Daily Provision. To be fair, I have only used this product once! I just bought it today. First impression: I love it. It smells very nice, detangled my hair, and lightly moisturized it. I think this will be my go to when I don’t need a heavy leave in like the Bumble and Bumble one I mentioned above.

Last, is the styling products. I rarely use heat on my hair. These reviews are mostly based on my results with air drying my hair.

Matrix Mineral Airy Builder . Again: this was from my recent Ulta haul and I have only used it once. I bought this in hopes it would give me texture and body in the top of my hair. I followed the directions, but I did not see that the product did anything. Will be returning.

Matrix Curl Please Contouring Lotion. I think this product is currently being discontinued. I found it for sale on Amazon. I am kind of sad because I really liked this product. It helped define my curls without giving it a crunchy feeling or weighting them down. It doesn’t have a strong scent. I did not use this product super often (because I’m lazy) but, I would repurchase if it is still available.

Matrix Air Dry Twisted Boho. This product was just okay. I think the curl contouring lotion defined my curls better. I feel like the product smelled slightly manly. This product may work for those who have curlier hair than I do. Personally, I would not repurchase.

Redken Shine Flash. Despite the name…. this product does not make your hair shine. It is labeled as a glistening mist. Seriously. This was a waste of money. Would not repurchase.

Garnier Sheer Set Extreme Hold Hairspray. I LOVE this hairspray. It gives a nice strong hold without giving you hair that crunchy feeling. It keeps my hair in place all day. This has lasted me forever because I rarely fix my hair, but I will be repurchasing.

Tresemme Flawless Curls Mousse. I personally did not like this product. It did define my curls and keep them in place. However, it gave my hair a crunchy feeling. That’s not my jam. I really like my hair to feel soft and natural. So, if you don’t mind the “crunch” this product will probably work for you. I won’t be repurchasing.

Big Sexy Hair Root Pump. Another item that has ended up in my product graveyard. It did not give me volume (even with round brush and hair dryer). It also made my hair have a weird texture. Will not be repurchasing.

CHI Enviro 54 Natural Hold Hairspray. This product works really well. Gives a good hold, but doesn’t make your hair feel stiff. But, it smells terrible. Very manly. Because of the smell I will not be repurchasing.

That ends my hair care review! If you made it this far, then thanks for reading. If you enjoy these types of reviews please let me know in the comments below!

How does Poshmark Work?

Poshmark is an incredible app that lets users sell and buy second hand clothing, shoes, accessories, and even home decor. Not everything is “second hand” as a lot of items are new with tags (NWT). New to Poshmark? Use referral code luckythreds to get $$ off your first purchase! Sounds too good to be true right? Let’s get into the details.

Most users fall into these two categories: people who use Poshmark to make extra cash while cleaning out their closets and people like me that use Poshmark as a business. Either way, you can rest easy purchasing on this platform.

How to know if you are purchasing from a reputable seller? Click on the about tab in the sellers closet. It will tell you how many days it takes them to ship as well as any “love notes” (reviews) they have gotten. There is also a program called Poshmark Ambassador. To be in the program you have to have stellar reviews, lots of community involvement, and a certain number of pieces sold. So, you can safely bet that all of these sellers are very reputable.

What is make an offer? Poshmark has this amazing feature which allows the buyer to offer a lesser price for the item. Won’t the seller get offended? No, as long as you don’t offer WAY less than the item is worth. Worst case they will send you a counter offer or just decline the offer. Also, check out pinkstylehub. They have so many items at great prices!

I purchased, now what? Once your item ships you will receive a notification as well as the tracking number.

What if my item doesn’t ship in time? No worries. If your item does not ship within seven days you can cancel your order and get a full refund.

What if there is something wrong with my order? Again, no worries. If you receive an item that is not as described or just received the wrong item, you can report it to Poshmark. You must report it within three days of receiving the item. This happened to me when a seller mixed up two orders. I was asked to send pictures, then shortly Poshmark gave me a shipping label to send the order back and issued me a full refund. I also had a pair of shoes that became lost in the mail. After reaching out to Poshmark and the post office, we decided they wouldn’t be found. Again, I was offered a full refund. I have had nothing but great experiences with their customer support!!

I got my package (woop woop)! Now what? After you receive your items give them a good look over to make sure they are as described. If so, give your seller a rating and leave them a love note! If not, then refer to the paragraph above.

How can I sell my own clothing? You guys its so easy! Just take some pictures of the item in good lighting. I usually include front, back, tag, any imperfections, and up close of any patterns/detail. Then, describe your item accurately. The last thing to do is to set a price. Make sure you price fairly, but also remember that buyers have the option to send you offers. Once you have posted your item, make sure to share your it at least once a day. I usually share at night because a lot of people online shop before bed. The Poshmark feed doesn’t work like Instagram, it is time based. So, the more you share your items, the closer they will stay to the top of the feed.

Doesn’t Poshmark take a portion of my earnings? Yes. They take 20% OR $2.95, whichever is greater. This is more compared to some sites, but is worth it to me. They are a good company and make it super easy to sell, so 20% is fine with me! Also, they make it easy to see how much you earn based on your price (as seen in the gallery above and below).

What about shipping? The buyer always pays shipping. When sending an offer you will give discounted shipping (which comes out of earnings). Once someone buys your item, Poshmark emails you the shipping label. All you have to do is print it!

What do you ship your items in? Since Poshmark uses priority mail shipping, AWLAYS use a priority mail shipping box. I order all my boxes from the Post Office. They are free and make it super simple! I order them online and they deliver to my house free of charge. Or you can pack it up in store. I just find that packing items at home is much easier.

I know this is a long post, but I wanted to answer all your questions! I LOVE Poshmark and I hope this post helps you enjoy it as well.

So now here is my own little plug. I source my listings from outlets, thrift stores, and even yard sales. I try to have a wide range of sizes and items that are new with tags! So check out my closet here! I am also a Poshmark Ambassador, so you can feel confident shopping from my closet.

If you don’t have a Poshmark yet sign up with code luckythreds to get $10 off your purchase (usually its $5 so run now!!).

September Amazon Favorites

You guys know that I order on Amazon way too much. I go to order one thing and two hours later my husband wants to know where our money went. So, I’m going to show you my most favorite purchases from last month!

These bees wax wraps are so amazing. I plan on purchasing more soon. Use them to but over a casserole dish or just to wrap up a sandwich. They are reusable and can be rinsed off in cold water. This was one of my zero waste swaps and I’m LOVING it. I think I can say goodbye to plastic wrap forever.

Next is this awesome silicone loofah. I always had a love hate relationship with traditional loofahs. They exfoliate, but they harbor bacteria and you have to trash them after a few weeks. So, I found this silicone one and its the bomb. Still exfoliates, easy to clean, and doesn’t harbor gross bacteria!

Here is another one of my zero waste swaps. I’ve been using these for produce at the grocery store and for items I buy at the local farmers market. these are super handy and I love keeping a few in my purse. They smelled a little funny (like a natural fiber smell) when I got them, but after they aired out for a few hours they were fine. I think everyone should own a few of these.

I was blessed enough to purchase my dream car! While I was super thrilled with the car… the interior smell was not so exciting. It smelled like popcorn. Like VERY strong popcorn. However, my husband found this freshener on Amazon and it did the trick! It was easy to use and inexpensive.

Thats it for this months amazon favorites. If you want to see a post about Amazon flops let me know in the comments below!

If you missed my Facebook live, I am starting to post once a week on Mondays. Ive been working extra hours while we are hiring new people. Once my normal work schedule resumes so will my posting schedule! Subscribe so you never miss a post!

How to Keep a Plant Alive

Do you love plants, but just seem to kill every plant buddy you bring home? I have realized that SOO many people are having this problem. They think they don’t have a “green thumb” and resort to fake plants. DON’T BUY THE FAKE PLANTS! The problem probably doesn’t lie with your gardening ability, but more likely with your plant choices.

Here are 5 easy steps to ensure your plant babies will live long happy lives!

  1. Pick a spot for a plant. This is so important. You want to choose a plant for a specific space. Once you find a spot, take notice of how much sunlight it gets through the day. This is going to help you when choosing a plant.
  2. When choosing your plant keep in mind the amount of sunlight your designated space receives. If it doesn’t get much light, then a full sun plant will not survive and vice versa. Also take into account the temperature. For example: An orchid is not going to do well on your patio in 85 degree weather.
  3. When you get your plant home DO NOT immediately repot it. Going into a new space is enough stress for a plant. If you really hate the pot it came in simply set it into a bigger decorative pot or basket. You want to minimize the amount of stress on the plant.
  4. Do a little research. Take 5-10 minutes to google your plant. How does it like to be watered? Does it go through a dormant season? Familiarize yourself with what the plant needs and how it responds.
  5. Let Mother Nature do its thing. Make sure you don’t over care for your plant. If your plant is lacking something it will tell you. If you are over watering the leaves may turn yellow. If you aren’t watering enough the leaves may wilt etc. If your plant is looking a little wonky just google it! you will find exactly what your plant needs to be looking happy again.

Now that you know the easy steps, I am going to show you a few easy to care for options.

Alocasia amazoica, commonly known as Elephant’s Ears, is very low maintenance. It likes partial sun, but it does enjoy regular watering. Mine gets watered once a week. I let the soil completely dry out and then give it a deep water.

Monstera deliciosa, or Split-Leaf Philodendron, is ridiculously easy to care for. It tolerates low lighting and does not need to be watered often. Only water when the soil is completely dried out. If you over water this plant the leaves will actually sweat out the excess water. So, if you are seeing random water drops on the leaves, then it means you are over watering. In my experience, it does not do well in full / direct sunlight.

Sansevieria trifasciata, also known as Snake Plant or Mother in Law’s Tongue, is a VERY hardy plant. It likes bright, but in direct light. Let the soil dry completely before watering. Make sure this guy doesn’t sit in water!

These are only a few of my favorites that I have in my personal plant collection. When you go to pick out a plant don’t be afraid to ask for help. Some plants require more care and you want to be sure your first plant is pretty low maintenance.

The most basic piece of advice I can give is to observe your plant daily. This is the easiest way to observe any changes and make adjustments quickly. Everyday seems like a lot, but it only takes about 15 seconds to give your plant a little look over. Once you get into the habit it will become the highlight of your day. I love going out and seeing new growth on my plants (I get a little too excited about it). It is also helpful to take pictures of your plants. This will let you visually compare the growth or changes easily.

All there is left to do is get started! Let me know what plant you chose for your space below. Also, don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss a post!!

Zero Waste?

I have seen so many “zero waste” posts lately and I got to wondering how the heck are all of these people producing no waste?? Guess what? Most of them are still producing some waste. The better term for this movement would be reduced waste or minimal waste. The more I searched into this movement the more interested I became. I decided this could be something Evin and I could slowly achieve ourselves.

First things first zero waste is an ideal. It is almost impossible to produce no waste ever. The most important thing is to realize what items you use and to find ways to reduce that waste. Almost everything is sold in packaging, so its important to just be aware of what the packaging is made of. Lots of glass bottles can be reused and lots of metal and paper based packaging can be recycled. The main goal is slowly incorporating these ideals into your lifestyle because it’s totally impossible to wake up tomorrow and become low waste.

I want to include you guys on this new journey and give you some ideas to reduce your waste! Its super easy things to start out with and you would be surprised how much of an impact it can have!

Ten Easy Ways to Reduce Waste:

  • Buy in bulk! When you buy a larger amount it reduces your waste because instead of buying 5 packages you only purchase one. The best thing is to bring your own jars if possible.
  • Bring your own bags! I know we all have reusable bags from Marshalls and Publix. Start keeping some in your car so you don’t have to use plastic bags. The plastic bags I have accumulated are being donated to a local thrift shop so they can be reused.
  • Have reusable straws and cutlery. I plan to keep these in my purse when eating out to reduce the amount of plastic items I consume.
  • Buy things secondhand. I know for some people this is really hard. But, honestly it even saves money! I just purchased a set of plates from target second hand (like an hour before I wrote this). It was a set of four and I only payed $3! Crazy. This will keep more items out of landfill and reduce the amount of packaging you consume.
  • Use “unpaper towels” or cloths instead of actual paper towels. Etsy has so many cute unpaper towels if you would rather not make your own cloths from scraps. Seriously go look them up. So freaking cute.
  • Use bees paper instead of cling wrap. This can be washed, reused, and they have so many cute prints!
  • Buying products locally reduces waste. These items don’t have to be shipped long distances and usually come with less packing involved. So go explore and check out your local farmers markets and artisan festivals.
  • Have a reusable water bottle. Metal and glass ones are more sustainable, but use what you already have.
  • Be intentional with what you buy. This one is gonna be hard for me. Sure we should treat ourselves sometimes, but try to avoid buying a trinket every time you have a bad day. Just think about your impact and if this item is something you have a need/ use for.
  • The last is the most important. USE WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE! I know that seems like common sense, but you don’t need lots of fancy things to reduce your waste. Use what you have currently, then when you run out you can find a better more sustainable option. I have even been saving left over glass jars for buying in bulk.

This seems like so much and I was overwhelmed to begin with. However, swapping out a few things at a time can really have a big impact.

Here are my First Steps:

  • Silicone straw and reusable cutlery
  • Buying some items in bulk with my own jars
  • Bringing reusable bags to stores
  • Using reusable mop pads (instead of the Swiffer ones)
  • Using glass containers with concentrates for cleaning products
  • Bamboo toothbrushes (when ours wear out next month).

Let me know if you have any more ideas that I missed. I hope this inspires some of you and shows you that it is easier than it seems. Being “zero waste” seems unattainable and outlandish, but just making a few changes to reduce your impact can really go a long way! Here is a great youtube channel to check out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCM6cN45p-QTDRwVPVPRpfYQ. She is honest and shows you easy ways you can reduce your impact on the environment.

Welcome to my Laundry Room

I’m back! Preparing for Hurricane Dorian (that never actually made landfall on us) and starting a new job had me a little tired. No need to fear though, I am back in full swing to my posting schedule. Today, I really want to show you guys one of my favorite spaces in the house… my laundry room!

I am so excited to finally have my laundry room put together AND clean. Am I the only one who constantly has clothes on the floor in my laundry room? When you add in the dust and dog hair fall out from the lint trap…. It gets a little crazy in there.

This weekend I focused on organizing and cleaning to prepare for the coming week, so I thought now would be a great time to share my laundry room!

I really hate to do laundry, so it was important to me that my laundry room be bright and fun. I found the wallpaper on clearance at Target. It is a peel and stick that can easily be removed. This particular style has been discontinued, but here are some very similar patterns: Trellis, Montauk, and Slate Blue Quatrefoil. I love my faux wood tile floors, but I wanted to add some texture to the room. I found this SUPER cute and affordable rug from Amazon. I have it in the color light grey and in the size 2 x 4 ft.

The next important step in creating my perfect (to me) laundry room was organization. These bins from Target have been perfect to store all my laundry room items. I have them in the color grey and in sizes medium and large. The caddy in the middle is from Grove. Use THIS link to get a free gift set with your first order!! I’m totally obsessed with their green cleaning products and plan to to a post about them soon.

I chose to keep a hamper in my laundry room for items like dish towels, sheets, bulky blankets, and other random items that I don’t want to wash immediately. I purchased this hamper at Walmart and it was super affordable. Behind that you’ll spot some extra pillows that I like to keep on hand for guests. The baskets above are a little random. One is from Ikea and holds my winder scarfs. The brown basket I purchase from Marshalls YEARS ago to hold all my acrylic paints. Lastly, on the top shelf you will see Bane’s cone of shame. I keep it just in case because he tends to be accident prone. I also wanted a little wall art so I found this print on Amazon.

Here you can see the cute print a little better. It has actually been helpful to decipher all the laundry symbols I find on tags. Cute and purposeful!

To be honest, I am not sure where I found all these baskets. These have been floating around my various living spaces for a while now. I use these baskets to hold extra cleaning supplies for my Swiffer, dog supplies, and my iron. Here is another cute storage bin from Amazon that I think would be comparable.

There you have it. I so love this laundry room. It keeps me organized and I love walking in there to see that wallpaper. It is so visually appealing it makes me not mind that I’m actually walking in to do laundry!

How do you make your laundry room functional? Let me know below! Also, don’t forget to subscribe so you never miss a post. See you readers on Thursday!!

What is a Hurricane Kit?

Today, I started making my hurricane kit. What is a hurricane kit you may ask? Well, You came to the right place. I had no clue what to put into this kit. I grew up in upstate South Carolina. Generally, we didn’t worry about hurricanes or making an emergency kit of any kind.

The more I looked into how to prep the more I realized everyone should have a kit similar to this. Tornados, lightning storms, snow storms, and other weather events are unpredictable. We should take initiative and be prepared. It doesn’t matter if you are in Florida with me, Iowa, or back in my South Carolina hometown, you should have this kit handy.

One of the most important items is water. FEMA recommends one gallon per person per day. You will also need canned foods (hello soup and Chef Boyardee) and other nonperishable food items. You should have a two week supply of food and water.

A big reason we have these kits is power outages. So make sure you have a few flashlights and the correct sized batteries for those flashlights. I also have a Coleman lantern that has come in handy a few times.

As far as health and safety, make sure you have a basic first aid kit. You will also need a two-week supply of your medications. Personal hygiene and sanitation items are also important. I recommend having some Wet Wipes in case there is no access to running water.

Copies of personal documents should be in a fireproof and waterproof safe. This saves you the trouble of having to search for them or having to replace them if they become damaged. Have a list of emergency contact information in your kit. If your phone dies you will want to have this list written down.

If you have pets, young children, or family members that require special care make sure you have a list of items specifically for them. You don’t want to be stuck in an emergency and not have the crucial items you need.

Lastly, if you have a generator make sure you have extra fuel! It may also come in handy to have fuel for you car as well.

This is a LONG comprehensive list. Depending on your location all of this may not be necessary to have on hand at all times. So take this list and make it work for you! (For example: If you live in an area prone to fires you may need a dust mask. If you rarely see these storms, maybe you only need a week of food.) I suggest going through your kit once a year so you can take out any items that may be expiring. This will ensure you use it before it goes bad and that you have time to replace these items.

Congrats if you made it to the end of this post! It wasn’t a super interesting one, but it pertains to real life. I have never had to think about these things and am totally unprepared for the coming storm. I wanted to share with all my lovely readers so that you can be more prepared than I am.

More information can be found HERE on the Fema website.

Things I like from Amazon

Amazon is like a worm hole. There are endless products to be found. Its so easy to be sucked in. You go on to grab one product and end up with a K-Beauty face mask, a new floral print dress, and a hat for your dog (that you will probably never get them to wear). Well, at least that’s what happens to me. So, I’m going to show you some awesome products I’ve found on amazon AND would repurchase!

First is these amazing pairs of earrings. I’ve already worn a pair and I’m obsessed. They are super light weight and match almost everything! Plus, they are super affordable. $12 for four pairs of super cute earrings… count me in.

Am I the only one with a colored pen addiction? I love to color coordinate my planner and budgets. Let me tell you. These pens are the bomb. They have a great color assortment, super fine point, and they write beautifully.

A friend’s birthday coming up? Your birthday around the corner? Then, you need this candle. It smells so good and it is the perfect little gift. My mom sent me this for my birthday and it made my whole day opening the package. Super cute. Super affordable.

This is the best budget planner I have found so far. It has multiple different page layouts. There are pages to write goals, bills, expenses, income, and even a Christmas gift list! Me and the colored pens had a super time planning next months budget in this book. It comes in several different colors, but I chose the rose gold. No complaints. 10/10 would recommend.

Obsessed with your planner? These stickers are gonna be your best friend. There are stickers for birthdays, date night, appointments, meetings, vacation, and even lunch meet-ups. These are great for all you busy bodies!!

I recently bought this frame for a friend (in black), but I am considering getting one for myself. The middle has a customizable letter board! This frame comes in black, grey and white. It came packaged very nicely so it wouldn’t break in transit. If you are looking for a collage frame, this is it!

Do you guys like seeing what I order on amazon? If so let me know in the comments below! I’m thinking about updating this post once a month.

Go check out these amazing items and I will see you readers on Thursday!

Beauty Room Organization

This is officially my favorite room in my house. Its not done as far as decorating goes, but it is 100% organized. I can now work out of this space and actually be productive for once. Its the best.

This is a room that I have organized several times and couldn’t get right. I had to mesh makeup, office space, and Poshmark space in one room. I finally achieved it, so now I am sharing it with you!!

Here is an overview of my actual workspace. In the left picture see my dog, Bane. Great for needed distraction and the best dog kisses. Unfortunately, he is one of a kind and can’t be found on Amazon. He really does love to photobomb!

The drawers on the left hold all my office supplies while the drawers on the right hold all my makeup. I used the table top to show off my nail polishes, makeup brushes and lipsticks.

The mirror is my favorite new item. This is a birthday gift from my amazing hubby. I love how it does not have the wide white boarders. On the left side is a dimmer for the lights. On the right side is two outlets and a usb plug in.

It was very easy to assemble and came with all the bulbs. I am obsessed and recommend this mirror to everyone! You can find it HERE.

This chair is an amazing find from Ross. I definitely recommend you check your local Ross, Marshalls, and HomeGoods for these types of chairs. However, if you can’t find one check out these (link in picture. Just click!) below from amazon:

Moving on to my makeup drawers. I organized these drawers based on category and what items I use the most. In the first drawer, I keep foundations, concealers, mascara, eyebrow pencils, primers, and setting spray. I also have a little compartment for small items like bobby-pins and a pencil sharpener.

These plastic organizers are perfect for makeup storage. They are easy to wipe clean and have customizable dividers. You can section off each bin to the perfect size! (And yes I know I have an excessive amount of makeup. Its a problem).

In the second drawer I keep blush, bronzer, highlighter, makeup wipes and tape (for winged liner).

This organizer is perfect for holding all of my blush, bronzer, and highlight singles. It would be great for storing eyeshadow singles as well!

In the third drawer I keep all of my eyeshadow palettes. Some of them I have keep stacked (like my Morphe ones) due to how big they are.

My other palettes are kept upright in THIS organizer. It is so perfect for palette storage. It keeps them separated and safe from getting damaged by sliding around in the drawer.

In the fourth drawer I keep eyeshadow singles, liquid shadows, glitter, pencils, and a few miscellaneous items.

I used the same plastic organizers from the first drawer. Again, these are so perfect I can’t get over it!!

Both of these drawers are used to store lipsticks and they were found at Marshalls. I love these so much. The clear one is great for showing off collections and super pretty packaging. The tower is better for storing a larger collection and keeping your lipstick mess concealed. I couldn’t find these exact drawers, but HERE is another option that is perfect for lipsticks!

The last drawer in the desk contains all of my hair tools, so I won’t bore you with that. My favorite part about all this is that it is so affordable! All these organizers are a great price. I purchased them for less than $50!! I am so excited to continue to decorate this room. What item should I buy next for my beauty room?? The Story of Us

I am a little afraid to write this post because this story didn’t make everyone happy. Let me tell you though, it made me SO happy.

Before I met my now husband I had been in a few on again off again relationships. I kept going back because it was comfortable. Looking back I did make some great friends and have wonderful memories, but I was not happy. You live and you learn. I don’t think I would do it differently if I had to do it all over. All those experiences made me who I am today.

Then I met this man. He was 100% different than I had ever imagined my ‘future husband’ to be. He was tall, lanky, and a little goofy. He showed up on our first date wearing mixed matched socks (ps he still won’t match his socks). It happened so suddenly, right when I wasn’t looking.

This man drove an hour almost daily to come see me. Sometimes he made those drives after a 24 hour shift. He took me out to dinner, made me laugh, and made me step out of my comfort zone. Most importantly, he showed me that I was important. He NEVER ignored my texts or said I wasn’t invited. He always wanted me to tag along (and still does).

I took him to meet my family and I met his. We got matching tattoos (which normally I wouldn’t recommend, but hey it worked out right?!). Then, he left for deployment. That year was the hardest year of my life. I had only known him 2 months before he left, but being without him was like missing part of me. There were lots of sleepless nights. Lots of early mornings just to send a few texts back and forth. There were happy days and some days I just cried. Everyone knows deployments are hard, yet you never really understand that reality until you go through it.

Six months passed, very slowly I might add, and my honey got to come home on leave. He asked me to marry him (I obviously said YES!!). This is the part that gets sticky. We knew for a while we would get married. We also knew we did not want to have a wedding. Some people were so very excited for us, some were not.

It still was the happiest day of my life. Those two weeks of leave went by so fast. Then, he had to go back overseas. Another six months of face times and scheduling around time differences. The time we spent apart somehow made us stronger together. We learned so much about each other and about our relationship during this time. Not only were we married, but we became best friends too!

A few days after he returned, we packed up our whole lives to move to Orlando, Fl. PCSing is stressful, but we made it. We lived in a small over priced apartment with two dogs for several months. No personal space. NONE. Today, we are proud home owners and SO excited to see where the Army will take us next.

This is a long story, but here is the point I want you to get. NEVER settle for anything less than amazing. NEVER sell yourself short. NEVER tell yourself you can’t, because guess what? You can! It may make you uncomfortable or scared and that’s okay. As Will Smith said:

“The best things in life are on the other side of terror, on the other side of your maximum fear, are all of the best things in life.”

So go chase your dreams and follow what makes you happy (even if it’s a military man that you get to marry in a conference room).
