Welcome to my Laundry Room

I’m back! Preparing for Hurricane Dorian (that never actually made landfall on us) and starting a new job had me a little tired. No need to fear though, I am back in full swing to my posting schedule. Today, I really want to show you guys one of my favorite spaces in the house… my laundry room!

I am so excited to finally have my laundry room put together AND clean. Am I the only one who constantly has clothes on the floor in my laundry room? When you add in the dust and dog hair fall out from the lint trap…. It gets a little crazy in there.

This weekend I focused on organizing and cleaning to prepare for the coming week, so I thought now would be a great time to share my laundry room!

I really hate to do laundry, so it was important to me that my laundry room be bright and fun. I found the wallpaper on clearance at Target. It is a peel and stick that can easily be removed. This particular style has been discontinued, but here are some very similar patterns: Trellis, Montauk, and Slate Blue Quatrefoil. I love my faux wood tile floors, but I wanted to add some texture to the room. I found this SUPER cute and affordable rug from Amazon. I have it in the color light grey and in the size 2 x 4 ft.

The next important step in creating my perfect (to me) laundry room was organization. These bins from Target have been perfect to store all my laundry room items. I have them in the color grey and in sizes medium and large. The caddy in the middle is from Grove. Use THIS link to get a free gift set with your first order!! I’m totally obsessed with their green cleaning products and plan to to a post about them soon.

I chose to keep a hamper in my laundry room for items like dish towels, sheets, bulky blankets, and other random items that I don’t want to wash immediately. I purchased this hamper at Walmart and it was super affordable. Behind that you’ll spot some extra pillows that I like to keep on hand for guests. The baskets above are a little random. One is from Ikea and holds my winder scarfs. The brown basket I purchase from Marshalls YEARS ago to hold all my acrylic paints. Lastly, on the top shelf you will see Bane’s cone of shame. I keep it just in case because he tends to be accident prone. I also wanted a little wall art so I found this print on Amazon.

Here you can see the cute print a little better. It has actually been helpful to decipher all the laundry symbols I find on tags. Cute and purposeful!

To be honest, I am not sure where I found all these baskets. These have been floating around my various living spaces for a while now. I use these baskets to hold extra cleaning supplies for my Swiffer, dog supplies, and my iron. Here is another cute storage bin from Amazon that I think would be comparable.

There you have it. I so love this laundry room. It keeps me organized and I love walking in there to see that wallpaper. It is so visually appealing it makes me not mind that I’m actually walking in to do laundry!

Closet Organization

Remember my post from the other week when I said I had several problem areas? Well, the master closet was one. I have a ridiculous amount of clothing and shoes. If Evin and I were going to share a closet (and we had to or his clothing would be laying in pile somewhere), I had to get organized.

There are two things I want to talk about in this picture. First, the hangers. Keep your hangers all one color. It makes it look a little more stream line. I have a few with silver hooks because I needed some non slip velvet hangers. Other than that, I stuck with plain black hangers. Second, the shoe storage. I found these at Ikea. I use them for the shoes that I don’t wear regularly. .I have had them for several years (like 4-5 years). They hold up great and keep my shoes safe! If you want an option with a more clear front check out these. If you prefer to keep the shoes a little more hidden these are another great option.

These are the shoes I wear more regularly. I know. I told you that I had a lot of shoes! I LOVE these shelves. They can easily be stacked or lined up beside each other. They were also very easy to put together. I did it all on my own, so you know it has to be super easy! This is a cute way to display your shoes while also saving some space. Each unit has 15 cubbies. They are also available in Espresso and Dark Cherry. Again, if you would rather keep your shoes concealed there is this option as well.

Last are these drawers. In here I keep socks, pjs, and swimwear. I can no longer find the white online, but target has them in Espresso, Gray, and Black.

These few inexpensive items totally transformed the closet and made it a more usable space. My shoes are no longer in a pile and I no longer have to cram extra items into our dresser. 10/10 would recommend all of these products. I have been very happy with them so far!

If you have any problem areas in your home let me know below!

As of now my normal posting schedule will be Mondays and Thursdays. Once I am able to create more content I hope to write three times a week. Don’t forget to subscribe below so you never miss a post. See you guys on Thursday!

Linen Closet Organization

One of the most exciting milestones is purchasing your first home. However, once you move in it can become stressful. I needed to find a new space to put each item. I had a few problem areas that I just could not get organized. The worst was the guest linen closet. I just couldn’t arrange it in a way that was pleasing to the eye, but also provided all the items our guest might need. Now, several months later I think I finally figured it out!

I wanted this closet to be very cohesive and give our guest all the items they may need or have forgotten. This is what I came up with:

These large milk crate baskets are perfect for holding towels. I just stack them upright one behind the other. If you are slightly OCD like me make sure you use all the same colors. I chose white but any color that matches your decor will work perfectly. This towel set from amazon has great reviews.

To the left of the towel basket I put all the washcloths rolled up. The basket is only $9 at Target. Rolling the washcloths in the same way (where the stripe faces outward) is going the be the most pleasing to the eye.

On the second shelf I used the milk crate basket in small. I folded up an extra set of sheets that I found on amazon. They were super affordable and very soft. I got them in the color Wisteria. Click on the image below to check them out!

I used the same small basket on the second shelf. In this basket I put a few random items that might be helpful to guests such as razors, toothbrushes, soap, and a small travel kit. I feel that it is small details like these that make your guests feel right at home!

On the last shelf I provided some extra pillows. These were only $3 each at Walmart, which makes them perfect for a guest room. They are actually really fluffy and soft.

Getting this one closet organized made me feel so much better! Do you have a problem area in your home that you just can’t get organized? Let me know below.
